Shannon Leggett
Shannon Leggett grew up in N. Vancouver, Canada. She graduated from the University of British Columbia (UBC) with a BA Double Major History/Political Science-First Class, B Ed SSEd-First Class, and MA SSEd First Class, the latter two degrees under the supervision of internationally-esteemed Social Studies educator, Dr. Peter Seixas http://historicalthinking.ca. Her MA thesis on the IB in BC https://open.library.ubc.ca/cIRcle/collections/ubctheses/24/items/1.0356392 made her an official historian of the IB. She began teaching IBDP History in 1991, and has taught it, and other subjects, in West/North Vancouver & Prague, CZ. She is an examiner of all DP History assessments & a workshop leader (Europe, Middle East, and North America). In addition to the DP History of the Americas OUP companion text, she co-authored educational materials for the Velvet Revolution documentary, The Power of the Powerless http://www.thepowerofthepowerless.org/ and the SS6/7/9 BC SS textbooks for Pearson. In addition to teaching, she has also coached championship-winning soccer, volleyball, cross country and improvisation (Canadian Improv Games) teams. She currently teaches DP History, MYP SS, Comparative Cultures 12, 20th Century History 12, & coaches Sr Boys Volleyball/Track & Field at Brockton School, an IB continuum school in N. Vancouver, BC, Canada.
